Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese complementary therapy. It uses life force energy directed through the hands of the qualified practitioner.
“Rei” = Spiritual or Universal
“Ki” = Life Force Energy
Reiki is not a medical replacement. It guides individuals to relaxation and peace. If there are any serious health issues, it is always adviced to seek professional medical care. Reiki can provide comfort, not cure.
Reiki is totally natural and safe, so no harm can be done.
META DATA: An explanation of how distance Reiki works, what happens during a session and how energy healing can be experienced online.
What does Reiki do?
Reiki can improve the energy in any living thing, from pregnancies to plants. Anyone who could benefit from a little time to relax, refresh or perk up a little could benefit from receiving a Reiki session.
Healing often occurs when we feel safe enough to relax. Reiki creates a space for that peace and restoration.
Reiki is particularly beneficial for:
- General Wellbeing
- Relaxation and Stress Management
- Aches and Pains
- Babies and Pregnancies
- Pets
- Supporting reflection during challenging situations
What does a session involve?
Reiki can be delivered in two ways. Hands-on or distant.
Hands-on doesn't necessarily mean hands-on. For the purpose of this blog informing you on what Reiki is and does, I mean in person. Depending on your comfort level, hands can hover above the body at specific areas, or direct contact touch. Preference is always communicated at the beginning of each session.
People are different and unique, so no Reiki experience is ever the exact same. Even practitioners do some things differently.
During a session some experience laughter, tears, fidgets, itches, involuntary movements or wind. These are all perfectly natural occurrences and remind us that we are human. Energy is moving through the body system, going where it needs to in order to bring peace and restoration. The only focus you would need for a Reiki session is to breathe, allow yourself to relax and enjoy the experience.
Some Reiki practitioners also work with distance Reiki, where a session is offered without the person being physically present. Some choose to include intentions for places, situations or meaningful objects. This information would be communicated at the time of booking.
Oftentimes Reiki Practitioners refer to themselves as healers. I refer to myself more as a guide than a healer.
Whether you’re curious or considering booking a session, I hope this has helped you understand a little more about what Reiki is, what it isn’t, and what you might expect. Have you ever experienced Reiki before?
